I live on a small budget so I have never before spent this much money on a pair of shoes, not even dress shoes. I am 55 and have played tennis all of my life. I recently added indoor pickleball to my activities, and was playing both tennis and pickleball every week. Four months ago, my right foot developed plantar fasciitis from playing on a hard gym floor and also being overweight. A few hours after pickleball, it would feel like I was walking around with a metal stake in my heel. The next morning, when I would get out of bed, I could only walk on my tiptoe, and even that had to be with very light, delicate steps. I tried insoles, special socks, and sleeping in a brace, but only time lessened the pain. I had to quit pickleball and tennis for several weeks. Every time that I went back to playing, the plantar fasciitis would come right back again.I felt like I was in a downward spiral of being less active and gaining even more weight. Sooooooo, out of desperation, I paid more for these shoes than I normally would, with the hope it would lessen the pain. When I first put the shoes on, the left one was fine, but I could feel the right shoe pressing up into the arch of my foot and it was very uncomfortable. The directions with the shoes recommended wearing the shoes only a few hours a day, at first, to get used to the support that was lacking with previous shoes. So, I gradually increased the number of hours I wore the shoes each day. By the 4th day, I was completely pain free! I thought this was too good to be true, however, I am now back to playing tennis every week and pickleball twice each week.I ordered two more pairs in other colors and rotate them so each pair can completely air out in between use.If I hadn't found these shoes, I would now be a total butterball, eligible for the latest version of television weight loss shows! Instead, I am active and having fun.I an in love with my new shoes. I was just diagnosed by my podiatrist with a host of foot issues\problems. Flat feet, tendonitis, heel spurs, plantar fasciitis, arthritis and a stress fracture. After wearing an air boot for a month so my fracture could heel, I moved on to changing my shoes for the better. My doctor recommended Orthaheel\Vionics and said his patients have had great success with them. He showed me how to "build up" my current shoes with padding and I also bought an orthotic insole. He said Vionic were good because they already have the built in orthotic.I needed a good pair of walking shoes as I have to walk a good distance from the parking lot into the building I work in, along with navigating around the building all day. I bought these shoes in the hope that they would feel good and would help my feet not to hurt too much at they end of the day. What a surprise! They felt so good as soon as I put them on. They're wide enough to let my feet spread like they need to, but they still feel like they fit me. I've been careful not to wear them for 2 days in a row and let my feet become accustomed to the orthotic.. so far, so good. I even went to a local store that sells brand name clothing\shoes at a huge discount (per my doctor's suggestion) and bought three other pairs of Vionics at a ridiculously low price. They're slides so I expect them to feel differently, and I plan on breaking them in the same way. In the interest of full disclosure, I did have cortisone shots in my feet that have helped alleviate my foot pain. However, I can still feel a huge difference in my old shoes and my Vionics. I LOVE THEM!!!WOW am I glad I bought these. My right foot is slightly flat (fallen arch) and my chiropractor said that's the reason for my pronated ankle. Ah-ha... The difference between my right and left feet has been causing pain in my ankles, knees, and hips when I walk for years, and as a result of the unevenness, my right leg was over an inch shorter than my left. Yikes! The chiro has been able to get things evened out, but his very first suggestion was to get a pair of Vionic shoes for the arch support they offer.I went for a mile walk after I got these to test them out and I could feel different muscles in my legs getting tired than what I'd usually experience, so all I knew was that they were changing the way I was walking. I talked to my chiro about it, went over the specifics, and he said after that visit that there was a noticeable difference in how my whole body was reacting to the difference in the shoes.I will absolutely 100% buy another pair of Vionic shoes when it's time to retire this pair. They're comfortable, they look good, and they do exactly what I need them to do. I wear them every day and love them!I had become hooked on wearing sketchers because they are light weight and I travel... a lot. I began having knee and hip pain and decided to try the simple solution before seeing a dr. about it. I went on line looking for the best shoes for women with high arches and picked these. I have been walking in them a couple miles a day now for two weeks. Some time is spent on treadmills, most is on pavement. At first it was a little bit of an adjustment and I felt new muscles in my calves and ankles building up ( a little painful but went away after a couple days) now I am walking pain FREE! No knee pain, plus a numbing sensation that had started in my thigh is almost completely gone. Nothing is different except these shoes ! Totally recommend if you have high arches and are starting to feel some pains. I'm very happy that my walking fun is back!Should have read reviews closer to my own shoe size which is normally a 7.5 in most shoes except Toms. I purchased these a half size bigger because a few reviews said they were too small and narrow. Wrong! I bought and 8. Too big, felt like my toes were swimming in it. Read more reviews reordered same shoe (different color) in a size 7 med. Received them today. Love the fit so far. I have planter fasciitis. I am praying all the reviews are right and I will be able to start working out again. I also own a pair of flip flops which I live in!My mom raves about Vionic shoes. She has weak knees and these shoes support her very well. Great balance and very high in quality.Fit well. Have pinched nerves in toes. They still hurt, but nothing seems to help with that
